My client, an award-winning International Law Firm based in Liverpool City Centre are looking to recruit an experienced Payroll Assistant.

You will join a company that acts as a trusted adviser to a wide portfolio of clients across a wide range of specialist sectors: from transport and logistics and international trade, through to retail, insurance, marine, health, education, manufacturing, public sector and banking and financial services.

Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week.

Introduction to the role:

As a Payroll Assistant, you will join the Finance team in Liverpool and be responsible for processing

payroll and supporting the wider information management team. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Setting up New Starters, processing leavers and making various payroll adjustments. 

  • Calculation of statutory payments and deductions, SSP, SPP and SMP

  • Calculate and process benefits via salary sacrifice

  • Pension Processing

  • Dealing with Auto enrolment and Assessment

  • Process RTI submissions to HMRC

  • Accurately issue P45’s and P60’s

  • Managing queries relating to pay

  • Provide Payroll support to the Payroll Supervisor for ad-hoc payroll issues

  • Posting of the monthly payroll journal

  • Assistance with the P11D process

  • Payroll reporting

  • Provide support during the implementation of new HR/Payroll Solution

  • Basic MI reporting

  • Reporting from Choice Flexible Benefits system including monthly reports

  • Monthly standard reporting from Select HR (utilising Crystal Reporting)

Essential Skills:

  • Previous experience of processing payroll and using a recognised payroll software.

  • Confidence to run a complete payroll from start to finish.

  • Accuracy and attention to detail

  • Professional Customer service

  • Knowledge and understanding of financial information

  • Process driven

  • Able to prioritise and manage workload

  • Proactive approach

Desirable:

  • Experience in the legal industry

  • Knowledge of Earnie IQ and Sage
