IDVA Independent Domestic Abuse Advocate

Location: Oxford

Sector: Social Work, Domestic Abuse

Salary: £25000-£29000

I have an exciting opportunity for someone to provide IDVA support and interventions across Thames Valley.

You will have experience of working with complex need service users. This may be within the field of domestic abuse, and/or mental health, substance misuse and offending.

You will work as part of a national project that aims to improve the lives and safety of victims and children, by holding high-risk perpetrators to account. The project combines case management of perpetrators with a co-ordinated multi-agency response.

As IDVA, you will strive to make contact and work on a one-to-one basis with victims/survivors to pro-actively secure engagement and offer support to victims and survivors of the cohort, and link to complementary services.

To do this, you will work alongside existing agencies to design a co-ordinated individual support and safety plan, addressing identified needs and risks, and promoting understanding of the impact of abusive behaviours.

You will work closely with case managers to review risk, develop safety plans, and improve outcomes for all parties involved.

You will be passionate and committed to working within a multi-disciplinary team and will have a demonstrable track record of working with complex need service users. This may be within the field of domestic abuse, and/or mental health, substance misuse and offending.

  • Extensive training will be provided which may include the opportunity to gain an IDVA qualification with safelives.

  • Full driving license is required.

  • These posts will be subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure.
